Makoto Ginger Dressing

I've always loved the ginger salad dressing often found at various Japanese restaurants. Found a recipe to replicate it but it's a lot of ingredients and a lot of work, it's just easier to buy it. I've looked high and low in fancy grocery stores and Asian markets for a dressing like it, but nothing even came close. Then I had dinner at a friend's house and they had the dressing that tastes just like what you'd find at Benihana. Behold, the Makoto Ginger Dressing *gong sound* *koto sound*

I've found it locally at Von's in the produce section. And it is good.

Being one of the 1st patrons at Makoto's in Palm Bay FL back in the mid 80's I can say they haven't changed their recipie in 20 years. It's still the same great dressing we used to take home in little containers from their restaurant.

Makoto's Ginger Dressing is the VERY BEST. Alot of other salad dressing manufactures have tried to duplicate but none come close! I love this stuff!!! Please every one go try it. They also make a Honey Ginger, Teriyaki Sauce, and White Sauce like you find at the Japanese Steak houses. LOVE IT!

I have to agree with all of the comments above. While purusing the "healthy/organic section" in Shop Rite, I came across the Makoto Ginger Dressing and decided to make the purchase based on the ingredients and calories. I resigned myself to the fact that I probably wouldn't enjoy it but hey, worth a shot. That night for dinner I poured a TBS on my plate of salad and I was so surprised by the taste. This is probably the best ginger dressings I have ever had and by far the best of any dressing out of the bottle.

Oh my god, I love this dressing. Have you been to Chaya restaurant in Pittsburgh? I think they use a similar one...

You're right about Makoto's. I've tried so many Japanese dressings that make me wonder if the manufacturer ever even tried the dressing at a Japanese steakhouse. This is the closest I've found.
